Privacy Policy for RotX

Effective Date: April 13, 2026

Last Updated: April 13, 2026

1. Introduction

RotX (“RotX,” the “App”) is an iOS app published by Newron Robotics, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“Newron Robotics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Newron Robotics is the controller of any personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

RotX is designed to be local-first: your writing, prompts, drafts, settings, history, progress, and cached AI feedback live on your device. Your writing only leaves your device when you explicitly request AI Analysis, as described in Section 3(c).

By installing or using RotX, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

Summary

  • Your writing stays on your device unless you tap “Score it” to request AI Analysis. If you never request AI Analysis on a submission, that submission’s text never leaves your device.
  • No account, no email, no name, no IDFA, no ads, no cross-app or cross-website tracking.
  • AI Analysis requests are sent to our backend (Google Cloud / Firebase Cloud Functions) and forwarded to Perplexity AI for evaluation. Results are cached on your device and briefly on our backend.
  • Subscriptions are processed by Apple and validated by RevenueCat. We never see your payment details or Apple ID.
  • Full access to RotX is available during your free trial and while your subscription is active.
  • We do not use your writing to train or fine-tune AI models.
  • You can wipe everything at any time from Profile → Reset everything, or by deleting the App.

2. Who We Are

The data controller for RotX is Newron Robotics, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. You can contact us at any time using the email address in Section 15.

3. Information We Handle

3(a). Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device, in the App’s sandboxed storage area, and is never transmitted off your device except as expressly described in this Section 3:

  • Your writing submissions and the prompts they responded to
  • Unfinished drafts (autosaved while you write)
  • Cached AI Analysis results (scores, strengths, improvements, summaries, takeaways)
  • Your chosen display name, if you set one
  • App preferences (haptics on/off, daily reminder enabled, daily reminder time)
  • Computed progress statistics (streak, total submissions, averages)

You can delete any of this information at any time by removing individual entries from the History screen, by tapping Profile → Reset everything, or by uninstalling the App.

3(b). Anonymous Authentication Identifier

The first time you launch RotX, the App creates an anonymous Firebase Authentication identifier (the “Anonymous UID”). The Anonymous UID is a random string. It is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID, device identifier, or any other directly identifying information. You are not asked to register, sign in, or provide any personal data.

We use the Anonymous UID to enforce per-user fair-use limits on the AI Analysis service so that no individual install can exceed its allotted daily quota. The same Anonymous UID is also passed to RevenueCat as the “App User ID” for subscription entitlement management (see Sections 3(d) and 6(c)). This means Firebase and RevenueCat share the same stable pseudonymous per-install identifier; that identifier is still not linked to your name, email address, payment details, or any other directly identifying information.

3(c). Information Sent When You Request AI Analysis

RotX includes an optional AI-powered writing analysis feature (“AI Analysis”). AI Analysis only runs when you affirmatively request it by tapping “Score it” or an equivalent button. When you do, the following information is transmitted from your device to our backend, which is hosted on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase Cloud Functions):

  • The full text of the writing submission you have selected
  • The prompt question and category that submission responded to
  • A randomly generated submission identifier (UUID) used to cache the result
  • Your Anonymous UID
  • Your subscription status (active or inactive)
  • The approximate word count of your submission
  • Your local UTC offset, used to determine your local calendar day for quota enforcement

Our backend forwards only the prompt question and your submission text to Perplexity AI, which generates the analysis. The result is returned to your device, cached locally so you do not need to re-request it, and also cached on our backend (keyed by the submission UUID) so that retrying after a network error or reinstall does not consume an additional slot of your daily quota.

AI Analysis is available during your free trial and while your subscription is active, subject to our current fair-use limits.

If you never request AI Analysis on a given submission, that submission’s text never leaves your device. We do not use your writing, prompts, or AI Analysis results to train or fine-tune any AI model.

3(d). Subscription Status

In-app purchases for RotX subscriptions are processed by Apple under Apple’s standard in-app purchase terms. We never see your payment details, your Apple ID, or any cardholder information.

We use RevenueCat to validate Apple’s purchase receipt and to tell the App whether your subscription is currently active. RevenueCat receives the App Store receipt, the subscription product identifier, your Anonymous UID (passed as the RevenueCat App User ID), and standard request metadata such as app version and platform. RevenueCat stores subscription state on its backend so the App can confirm entitlement on launch and across reinstalls.

When you make an AI Analysis request, your current subscription status is included in the request so our backend can verify entitlement before incurring AI cost.

3(e). Daily Reminder Notifications

If you opt in to daily reminders, RotX schedules a recurring local notification on your device using Apple’s standard notification system (UNUserNotificationCenter). No notification data is transmitted off your device, and we do not use push notifications. You can disable reminders at any time in Profile → Preferences or in iOS Settings.

3(f). Information We Do Not Collect

RotX does not collect, request, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
  • Your contacts, calendar, photos, camera roll, microphone, location, or health data
  • Your Apple ID or payment details
  • Your IDFA, advertising identifier, or any other cross-app or cross-website tracking identifier
  • Any data for the purpose of advertising

RotX does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. The aggregate analytics and crash diagnostics that the App does collect are described in Section 3(g).

3(g). Analytics and Crash Diagnostics

RotX uses Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate, app-level usage patterns (for example, which features are used and how often) and Firebase Crashlytics for crash, performance, and stability diagnostics. These services may automatically collect standard service metadata such as app version and build number, device model, operating system version, language and locale, country, anonymous installation identifiers (such as Firebase’s auto-generated app instance ID), basic usage events, and crash and performance information.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are not used to collect the contents of your writing submissions or AI Analysis results. We do not use Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics for advertising, and we do not sell or share this information.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

  • Provide the App’s core features (writing, history, progress, drafts, settings)
  • Generate AI Analysis when you affirmatively request it
  • Cache AI Analysis results so retries do not waste server quota
  • Enforce per-user fair-use limits on the AI Analysis service
  • Validate and verify subscription entitlement
  • Deliver the daily reminder you opted in to
  • Understand aggregate app usage and diagnose crashes and technical issues
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our terms

We do not use your information to:

  • Train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model
  • Sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties
  • Profile you, score you, or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects
  • Serve advertising of any kind

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases under the GDPR and the UK GDPR for processing your information are:

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the App features you request, including AI Analysis and subscription-related functionality.
  • Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for daily reminder notifications, which you must opt in to. You can withdraw consent at any time by disabling reminders in the App or in iOS Settings, without affecting earlier processing.
  • Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — enforcing fair-use quotas, preventing abuse and fraud, securing the service, understanding aggregate product usage, and diagnosing crashes. We have determined that these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms because the data is limited and pseudonymous, no personally identifying account is created, and no advertising or profiling occurs.
  • Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we are required to retain or disclose information by applicable law.

6. Service Providers (Recipients)

We share information with the following service providers strictly as necessary to operate the App. We do not share information with any other third parties.

6(a). Google Firebase (Google LLC)

We use Google Firebase — including Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Functions, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics — to host the backend that powers AI Analysis, to issue Anonymous UIDs, and to monitor aggregate app usage and stability. Google processes this information as a data processor on our behalf, governed by the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms and Google’s Privacy Policy.

6(b). Perplexity AI

AI Analysis is powered by Perplexity AI. When you request AI Analysis, our backend sends only the prompt question and the text of your written response to Perplexity’s API for evaluation. We do not send your Anonymous UID, your name, your device identifiers, or any other direct personal identifiers to Perplexity. Perplexity’s current API documentation for the Sonar API states that API submissions are subject to zero data retention and are not used to train models. Please review Perplexity’s current Privacy Policy for the most up-to-date information.

6(c). RevenueCat, Inc.

We use RevenueCat to validate Apple App Store receipts and to manage subscription entitlements for RotX. When you purchase or restore a subscription, RevenueCat receives the App Store receipt, the product identifier you purchased, your Anonymous UID (passed as the RevenueCat App User ID), and standard request metadata (such as app version, build, and platform). RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, payment details, Apple ID, or any of your writing. RevenueCat’s processing is governed by RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

6(d). Apple

RotX is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple processes installation and in-app purchases under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not control, and are not responsible for, Apple’s data practices.

7. International Data Transfers

Newron Robotics is based in the United States, and our service providers also operate primarily from the United States:

  • Google Firebase hosts our backend in Google Cloud regions; data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates.
  • Perplexity AI operates from the United States.
  • RevenueCat operates from the United States.
  • Apple operates globally and processes App Store data under its own published terms.

If you access RotX from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, India, or another jurisdiction outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable), along with the safeguards made available by our service providers.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above:

  • On-device data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. We have no ability to access, retrieve, or delete on-device data remotely.
  • Backend AI Analysis cache (keyed by submission UUID) is retained on our backend for up to 30 days after the analysis is generated, then deleted.
  • Backend rate-limit and fair-use records (keyed to your Anonymous UID) are retained on our backend for up to 30 days, then deleted.
  • Anonymous Firebase Authentication identifiers may remain associated with the service until deleted under our operational practices or provider tooling, or earlier upon request where applicable.
  • Support emails and rights-request communications sent to us are retained for up to 12 months after the request is closed, unless a longer period is required by law or is needed to resolve the matter.
  • Subscription and entitlement records held by RevenueCat are retained according to RevenueCat’s standard data retention practices.
  • Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data are retained according to Firebase’s service configuration and Google’s standard provider practices.

You may request earlier deletion of any backend data we hold by contacting us using the details in Section 15.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including:

  • HTTPS / TLS encryption for all network traffic between the App and our backend
  • Apple’s standard sandboxed application storage for on-device data
  • Secure cloud infrastructure operated by Google Firebase for our backend
  • Server-side enforcement of authentication, rate limits, and entitlement checks

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Delete your personal data (“right to erasure”)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Receive your personal data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent that you previously gave
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Because RotX stores almost all of your data on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly through the App at any time:

  • Access: Open the History tab to view every submission, score, and feedback we have stored.
  • Correction: Edit your display name in Profile.
  • Deletion (per entry): Swipe left on any entry in History to delete it.
  • Deletion (everything): Tap Profile → Danger Zone → Reset everything to permanently wipe every submission, draft, evaluation, and setting, and to cancel any scheduled reminders.
  • Objection: Stop using AI Analysis; this prevents any further writing from being transmitted off your device.

For data held on our backend — namely, AI Analysis cache entries keyed by submission UUID and rate-limit records keyed to your Anonymous UID — please contact us using the details in Section 15. We maintain internal tooling that lets us delete backend records tied to your Anonymous UID and individual cached analysis records on request. Because we do not collect any directly identifying information, we may need additional information from you (such as your Anonymous UID or the approximate dates of the submissions in question) to locate the relevant records.

11. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share.
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under California law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from California residents under the age of 16. To exercise your California rights, contact us using the details in Section 15.

12. Users in India

If you access RotX from India, this Privacy Policy serves as the notice required for the processing of your personal data. Newron Robotics, LLC is the data fiduciary responsible for processing your information for the purposes described in this Policy. The categories of personal data we process, the purposes, the recipients, and the international transfers are described in Sections 3 through 7. You can exercise your rights of access, correction, and erasure as described in Section 10.

RotX is not intended for users in India who are under the age of 18. If you are under 18 and located in India, please do not use the App. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in India.

Grievance contact for users in India. If you have a grievance or complaint about how your personal data is handled, you can contact us at support@newronrobotics.com with the subject line “India Grievance — RotX.” We will acknowledge your message and work to resolve it within the timelines required by applicable Indian law.

13. Children’s Privacy

RotX is not designed for or directed to young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. For the avoidance of doubt:

  • In general, RotX is not intended for children under 13.
  • In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, RotX is not intended for children under 16.
  • In India, RotX is not intended for users under 18.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in a way that requires deletion under applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. You can also contact us using the details in Section 15.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the App, or applicable law. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy and, for material changes, we will provide more prominent notice (such as an in-app message) before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
